I found Hose leaking at the res. tank for the trans. Cooling fins plugging. I used a trans. vacuum pump and sucked some of the trans fluid. out About a 1/2 a pint. It was dirty But not as dirty as holding tank. Any suggestion if the trans needs drained all the way. ? I sprays down the trans to loosen up dirt for cleaning tomorrow.

I myself would drain and change the fluid entirely and fix the hose. Any foreign material can be hazardous to them. I'm sure someone will chime in on where the drain is on this model. I am unfamiliar with this hydro specifically.

After a little time looking. There is not a way to drain the trans. Just glad I put a cork in hole before messing or cleaning filler port. I  will just have to fill the trans and use it foe a while Then pump it out again. One thing I am glad that I changed the filler hose. Would of been a mess if it blew all the way.

Tim,

You have a Eaton 700 Transmission, there should be a drain plug on the bottom of the casing (RH side if memory serves me correct) you will be looking for an allen head. Service intervals on the transmissions are 100 hrs. 1 year deal.

The newer machines went away from having the hydro overflow reservoir, filling takes place only through the dipstick.

The fluid for the hydro and the gearbox lube is separate when the 700 Eaton is used. The plug on the bottom of the case drains the gearbox only.

Yep, Gosh having done some reading the Eaton 700 is different to the 1100!

TimH, Garry's linked chart has the correct oil grade that you will need when you change the oil in the pump. Garry is right on the money with the separate pump/gearbox setup for that model, definitely a "my bad".

Now correct me if I am wrong :hide: there should be a plastic cap on the face of the pump removing that should let you access the drain plug for the pump. As others have said be super careful as getting dirt or debris into the pump will usually mean the replacement of it.

Yes there is a cap and tank for the trans oil. I changed the hose it was leaking.  And since there is not a good way to get the trans oil changed.  I used a brake my brake vacuum system to suck out the old dirty stuff. Filled it with new oil Let set over night and vac it out again. The hardest job was cleaning the cooling fins and fan blades. They were all plugged. Used brake cleaning spray. What's funny is tractor runs better and faster Now on to next project repairing the battery hold. Thanks Guys
