Got quite a bit more done. Engine mounted and test fired. After discovering that Kohler didn't put tapped holes in the bottom of the oil pan. Makes sense that they make em different. Sourced one from another M12 needing rebuilding. Fired it up and seems to run good. Didn't notice any smoke beyond the PB it was burning off.  Seat will be mounted tomorrow and will add some 3/4" rubber to lift it above the fenders.

Routing the cables was another challenge as was the belt guard mounting tabs. One was welded, the other fabbed.

But it coming along. Was good to hear it run!

My son is coming home on leave from Okinawa Saturday. I hope to have it driving by then.

This is part #6714 roller.  It rides up the mower deck adjuster.  I can't locate one anywhere. Does anyone have one or have a n alternative? Thanks! 3/8" ID 1-3/16" OD and about 5/16" wide

Some pics from last month and some from today. Its coming along nicely, I think.

A couple of questions:

1. Is there some type of bracket that hold the cable going back to the hitch lift? I can't seem to find anything that holds the outside of the cable steady while the cable inside moves back and forth. Seems there should be some kind of clip down around the gearshift boot area.

2. Is the bolt that holds on the pulley in the picture anything special? I can't seem to locate a bolt to fit there

Seat is on order. Should start on engine next week.

Not sure about the headlights. Just have them mocked up now. Not sure if I am going to go with them or not.  Chime in with your thoughts.

Looking great! My Ranger had the same headlights on it when I got it from previous owner. My 3 year old nephew calls them bug eyes

@HD-Horse Nice restoration...Really looks good!

On a side note.....what did you use to widen your lift so a GT fit?

Thanks!

3/4" plywood. Cut it abour 39" if I remember right. Left it about a foot long on the front to mount the tire changer. Had to cut out a spot for the foot pump.

I put 1x2 strips on the bottom to keep it from shifting side to side. Same thing in the ramp.

Took er for a spin around the property this evening. A few odds and ends to do but 97.8% done!!

Well, except for the mower deck. That's next.

I don't think it's special... I'd have to dig one out and look.  Unless you're planning to put the mower deck back on this tractor... I'd just omit that bracket entirely. If you need the mid-attach-a-matic bracket for a cultivator or grader or something, just use two flat ones instead.

Thank you. I do plan to be able to have the mower attached. I did just use a bolt that the threads didn't go all the way to the head (not sure what you call that.)  Still looking for that roller though. May just have to use a pulley if I can find one close.  Thanks again!

I don't understand this belt guard. The drive works fine with it off. I bolted it on and it won't go anywhere. I tried to do as 953 Nut suggested and rotate the rear tab on the belt forward but mine isn't movable. It's made in one piece.

Drive belt tab.jpg

I lifted up on the belt guard and it moved. I removed the back attaching bolt of the belt guard and it ran pretty good. The guard still wanted to be a shade higher, not much. Mighty sensitive thing.  Should I try to bend the lower bracket up a smidge and raise the rear attachment up a bit?

Hard to believe it's that fine of a tuning, but I guess it is.  Am I missing something obvious?

It's looking good so far! I'm normally not a fan of the bug eye lights on the short frame tractors but the way these are set give it a fun look.  The way that you have painted them ties in well to the overall look of the tractor.  Good work, I'll keep an eye on this one...

Still waiting on the exhaust stack from our good friend Jim Kemp. Otherwise pretty much completed. Now to the mower deck.  Looks a tad better, don't ya think?

I had this same problem on my 867. The belt was so stretched out that the clutch/idler pulley hit the belt guard before the belt was tight. Replaced the belt and all is good.

Okay, thanks. I have a new belt. I added two washers beneath the rear upper mount and it fixed it. If it returns, I will put the new belt on. I found the old one after I had ordered the new one, naturally.

Good to have spares!!

I haven't quite got around to the mower deck just yet, but got the exhaust from our friend jimkemp installed and the disc redone. Received a dual wheel adapter from squonk and considering adding to this one. It's like power steering with the disc on!1056_Disc2.jpg

Well, time to close this one out. Finally finished the mower deck. I think I would rather do the whole tractor again than a mower deck.  Just kind of a pain and when you finish, yep you got a mower deck.  @Squonk suggested to use Loctite rust neutralizer on the bottom of the deck and then use truck bedliner. It worked great! Had some spindle issues but @daveoman1966 got me hooked up and running. While I didn't leave it like this, as you can't mow with it, I had a little fun with duals.  Enjoy! This project is in the books...I am going to give it to my oldest son. He will be quite surprised....

The 1056 used engine drive pulley 6483 on K241AS-46333d engine. (single groove)
The 1046 came with the PT-6 pto as standard equipment.
It has been said the 1046 was built to use up an excess of parts inventory and they appear to have been built at the end of the 1966 production run as no 1966 tractor serial numbers have shown up after them.
The PT-5 pto clutch plate is keyed to the crankshaft and assume it was released in 1965 for 1-1/8" shaft.
The PT-6 pto clutch is bolted to the engine pulley and assume it was released in 1966 for 1-1/8" shaft.
The PT-7 pto clutch is bolted to the engine pulley and assume it was released in 1967. In the manual is states this clutch requires 2-1/2" engine pulley 7363 for all 8hp and 1046 tractors with gear transmissions. The PT-7 appears to be for engines with 1" crankshaft.
The drive belt and belt guard are the same for the 1046 and 1056.
What is the difference in the 6483 and 6936 drive pulleys? Is it the bore?
      Does the 10hp K241S-46219a engine have a 1" crank on the 1045, 1055, 1075 and 1046?

I have another belt question, this time on a 1056 tractor with mower deck. I received the tractor with the deck belt tensioning idler bracket resting against the underside of the right-hand steering tie rod. There is no spring, just the belt itself applying tension forcing the bracket against the bottom of the tie rod.  The tie rod is badly worn from the machine being used like this for years.  In the photo, it's the bracket angled downward resting on the floor. Anyone know how this is supposed to be positioned? Are there parts missing ?

Hi guys, I am new to the forum and was looking for some insight. I have recently stumbled upon two finds at the local dealership. I also work there, so it is a little bit of an unfair advantage. I bought a rough B-60 first, and then a complete 1056 in fair condition. I am trying to decide how far to go on these restorations. The 1056 I would like to keep as stock as I can, but the B-60 is so rough I think I will make it a more custom piece. If brought back to excellent condition, I thought of asking $800-900 for the B-60 and $1200-1500 on the 1056. We sell machines every day at work, but nothing typically this old. I also may have a difficult time finding the right buyer as I am located in Erie, PA. What do you guys think?

      Thanks,

      Chris
