1973 WHEEL HORSE 16 AUTO TRANS FILTER

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys- I'm finishing a 1973 16 AUTO Tractor- The last thing I need to do before it's finished is change the Trans Fluid ( Dextron lll) & Filter- I want to be positively correct on the Filter it takes- NAPA can only tell me -1410 Or 1307- NAPA filter. Can anyone tell the the correct one- or should I just try to Deal with Toro? Thanks- Al

Personally, I would NOT use anything other than the OEM trans filter.  It may be a few bux more, but it is the best way to go....without question.

The micron rating and the pressure resistance / release are always a factor.  If you get the OEM, you can be sure you have the correct one.  I don't know what those factors are, nor do I care.  I just know that the filter is probably the most critical component of the Sundstrand system....

Thanks Guys- I finished the job today- OEM filter from TORO- and 4 quarts Dextron iii- ran it- checked Full- FYI- The tractor transmission ran even smoother after the change- it had a "FRAM" on it. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it- OEM for me ( no experience with the NAPA Filter- it may be OK- Thanks- Al

OEM is probably always going to be the best choice but I didn't want to order one and wait on it to come in...I run NAPA filters on everything else so I just stopped in and grabbed one on my way out of town the other day

NAPA filters are WIX. I use 'em all the time, never had a problem.

NAPA is just a few minutes away too. :handgestures-thumbupright:
