engineguy63 238 #1 Posted April 25, 2016 Just curious if someone could explain for me...................if the fuel tank is above the fuel bowl on the carb.......why would there be a fuel pump on my engine? Is the engine the correct one? Thanks
pfrederi 17,660 #2 Posted April 25, 2016 Supposed to work better on hills, near empty tanks. That said my Lawn Ranger has functioned perfectly well on gravity alone for 49 years. Gravity hasn't failed yet...can't say the same for Kohler fuel pumps (and gravity is a heck of a lot cheaper.) Pump look correct to me. Styles have changed a bit yours may be a pulse type...i can't tell from outside someone smarter here probably can.
slammer302 2,155 #3 Posted April 25, 2016 It looks correct. Most of mine are gravity feed but they will run out of fuel with just alittle bit of fuel left in the gastank.
953 nut 55,059 #4 Posted April 25, 2016 The K 141 and K 161 used the vacuum (pulse) type fuel pump. With a full tank of gas on level ground you probably won't know if it is working or not, go up a steep hill with a low fuel level and you will find out rapidly. oldredrider 2,548 #5 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) I just took down a K141T today and it has the cam lobe for a mechanical pump. Of course, there was no fuel pump on it when I got it. Now I'm confused! Engine supposedly came off a 633. Edited April 25, 2016 by oldredrider

I beleive Kohler used teh same cam regardless of pump Edited April 26, 2016 by pfrederi

oldredrider 2,548 #8 Posted April 26, 2016 The common cam makes sense to me. There was a slight bit of surface rust on the cam lobe and no wear so it probably did have a vacuum pump originally.
stevasaurus 22,706 #9 Posted April 26, 2016 Hey Eric...that 702 is blocking my view of that hit & miss. How about some picks of that when you get a chance. Is that a Panzer there also?? Nice 702 also. If the spec # is 28622E on that K161S...then it is the correct engine.
WHX?? 48,761 #10 Posted April 26, 2016 You don't let anything get by on you Steve...see's a little blue and right away it's gotta be a Panzer!!
