starter replacement kohler magnum 14

hey guy's new to this site,need to replace the starter on my 314-8 with kohler mag 14.Do I have to remove oil fill tube? If so how.thanks

Yes you do.  You will find 3 slotted machine screws on the bottom of the tube holding it to the block.  Taking off the belt guard will be helpful and no you do not need to drain the oil.  You may want to replace the gasket when you install it.    Welcome to Red Square

Use Threadlocker Blue when you put the oil fill tube back on the block.

I once picked up a 14 hp Mag, coated with oil. Three new screws and a new gasket. :handgestures-thumbupright:

 

PO thought the block was cracked, gave me the engine.  :handgestures-thumbupright:  :handgestures-thumbupright:

not sure if you r aware but the starter will fall apart when you remove it from the tractor if your not careful,the machine screws that bolt *** to the motor hold it together as well,just a heads up incase you didn't know

:WRS:   The filler tube fitting could be sealed using some silicone gasket material, just clean both surfaces well.
