Drive belt

Recommended Posts

Hi I am working on a 1965 Springfield tractor. I have a original  manual for it. I have a cross-reference #  for Toro I found out it is a obsolete #. The problem is the drive belt. it is around 42.5. I tried a 42 no good would not shift. Put a 43 on slips. So I think a belt around 42.5" would work? Does any one have a Springfield tractor? It is a 6 hp model. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have this tractor running good now, It would be a shame if I can not find a belt for it.

As far as I know fractional HP V Belt sizes are full inch increments, have you tried a Kevlar 4L 43" or a 3L 42"?

Have you tried a stronger spring on the clutch pulley. The 43" belt may work if you have more tension on it.

Thanks for all the reply's. I believe I have found the # the P.O. had a small  cross reference in the back of the manual . It had the original # with a Toro # beside it. I think it was 7-1150# a Toro # which is a 5/8"x 43" I had a aftermarket belt with those dimensions but could not get any drive. So I am hoping this works. Tanks again.

Achto. I will try that if the new belt does not work.
