Upper Canada 213 #1 Posted April 9, 2016 Just got done picking up a sleeve hitch to use on my 314-8. Sleeve hitches seem hard to come by here in Ontario Canada. Now I just need to get the rockshaft kit. I do have a lead on a complete rockshaft kit. I have had some good luck this last week, first a mid mount grader blade and now the sleeve hitch. Must have a shoe up my @$$!
Retired Sparky 526 #2 Posted April 9, 2016 I'm happy for you pal. For my own curiosity, would you take a pic and add it to your thread?
Upper Canada 213 #3 Posted April 9, 2016 Yes a pic will be added to the thread tomorrow. I knew that would be one of the first things to be asked. Also I will be poking around for dimensions on the rockshaft in case I have to make my own. I had made a sleeve hitch for the 314-8 that works but having an original is just so much more satisfying!
JAinVA 4,629 #4 Posted April 9, 2016 Wheelhorseman1000 sells the complete rockshaft assembly.By complete I mean cable, clevis ,chain and the rockshaft with bearings.I thought about making my own but his price was so reasonable that I got mine from him.Real good quality.Just a thought.JAinVA

I do agree that his kit and hitch do look to be of good quality and craftsmanship.
JAinVA 4,629 #7 Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) upper canada, Sorry that wheelhorsemans kit isn't the answer for you cost wise.It saves a lot of time and searching when all you need comes in one box.Luck,JAinVA Edited April 9, 2016 by JAinVA
Upper Canada 213 #8 Posted April 9, 2016 Pics as promised! Little bit rusty but I am happy to have it. I loosened out the bolts this morning. Took a bit of rost-off to loosen them up but they came out fairly easy. Cleaned out the thread holes with a tap and then brass wire wheel to the bolts and everything is nice and smooth now.
JAinVA 4,629 #9 Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Those things are handy.I took a middle buster and made an attachment for the horse to dig rows to plant potatos.I also made a potato plow for that style hitch and it sure is easier than digging spuds by hand.I hope you get lots of use from it.The only drawback to those things is that you have to tie them up to use the tow hitch.JAinVA Edited April 9, 2016 by JAinVA
cleat 6,791 #10 Posted April 9, 2016 A little never seize on those bolts will keep them free.

My driveway is long and a nightmare for potholes.

I bought a 315-8 back in February and the hitch on it will be available! Come to think of it I never did start a thread on the 315-8 I bought. It came with a 42 inch deck, snowblower and an Original snow cab.
JAinVA 4,629 #14 Posted April 9, 2016 Snow cab is something you can't find down this way.

Nice score buddy,, but that particular hitch is called a "Clevis Hitch" ,, a sleeve hitch gets its name cause it is as its name describes it a "Sleeve" that other attachments go into,,,it is also known as a slot hitch,, there are a cpl of actual sleeve ( slot) hitches in pocs below, if you havent actually ever seen one you can see them there,,,just tryin to pass on some high falutting book learnins !!
