Jimbodacious 0 #1 Posted March 28, 2016 I just purchased a 96 312-8. Great shape, all the repair papers. When I start in 1st, no problem. 2nd and 3rd increasingly grab harder even at half throttle. There is about half pedal travel before there some engagement. I appreciate any help. Also, what is a good website for replacement parts? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
N3PUY 1,031 #2 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Sounds to me like it has the wrong kind of belt on it. It should have a wrapped belt..... one that is wrapped in cloth with no exposed rubber. Look on the belt for a part number. If it's a number like L587 or B87 it wont work. A number like 6984 will work. Post a closeup of the belt along with the number. Phatboy 565 #3 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Check your drive belt,, wheel horse belts a covered in fabric ,,and are designed to grab progressively ,,once the fabric wears off the belt and it is down to the rubber it will grab like that,,, so i would say you just need to change your drive belt no big deal.. Take side cover off and foot rest and there is a Tensioner pully just have someone step on clutch pull old belt off and put new one on easy pezzy, oh yea and take the guard off pto pully just 2 pins,,and you can get a OEM TORO replacment belt on amazon for like 20 bucks , i had one laying around here just sold it last week..the part number is gonna be 7473...
