Tankman 3,518 #1 Posted March 28, 2016 I often choke thinking, "Plow the garden", "Plow snow". A plow equals, "turn the earth". Guess I'm losing it but, gag when I hear, "Plow snow". Guess I need a shrink. Yes, plow the garden. Yes, push snow. No, plow snow.
tractorhogg 612 #2 Posted March 28, 2016 You and me both brother, I feel like I should be corrected or punished for using the term "Plow Snow". I cant grow anything in it and I don't till or cultivate it. I've been waiting on pins and needles for years for someone to jump down my throat for using the term.
slammer302 2,155 #3 Posted March 28, 2016 I usually try to say push snow but still catch my self saying plow snow.
AMC RULES 37,125 #4 Posted March 28, 2016 I guess it doesn't matter whether you're pushing, or pulling it through the paticular material you have on hand... as you see here, it's still rolling off of a mold board plow.
Tankman 3,518 #5 Posted March 28, 2016 It's awful, snow plows. Makes me cringe.

tractorhogg 612 #10 Posted March 28, 2016 Forgot it was Easter weekend, been working on papers for school in between gardening all week, don't watch much TV. The Holidays are so unauthentic these days I would feel like a hypocrite to even celebrate Easter if I didn't shop till I drop or buy a car, sheesh

WNYPCRepair 1,910 #17 Posted March 28, 2016 http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plow It appears plow (or plough) used alone is a farm implement, and snow plow is used for snow removal.
TDF5G 2,069 #18 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Tankman, I've got to agree with you on this. I've always wondered about the use of "snow plow" also. I reckon it's correct to "plow snow" according to Webster's, but I've always said "push snow", or "clear/clean the drive." The Wheel Horse nomenclature is dozer blade and grader blade, not "snow plow." WH also calls them snow throwers, not snow blowers!
