Throttle change, up/down hills?

Recommended Posts

DownHome

I've noticed that while driving any sort of elevation change, whether it's up a hill or down I start losing throttle. What type of fuel delivery issues could I be having? Occasionally it will even die out almost completely. Sometime if I mess with the throttle I can get it back on track but seems like i shouldn't have to fuss with it that much? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Check your governor to make sure it is adjusted properly.

Is it operating normally when it is placed under a load, like engaging the mower; if so, the governor could be the problem. Could also be a float level issue.

MY GUESS,,. Would be the float in the carburetor is not functioning properly ,, it seems that the bowl may not be filling up all the way so as you change the pitch or angle of the tractor it is starving for gas... If it were my tractor i would take the carburetor apart clean it well and make sure the float has full range of movment ,, and all the jets are cleaned,, it may have got some settiment in it.. Hope that helps..

You may have some water or build-up in the float bowl. If it's been a while since it's been cleaned I'd start there.

Correct me if I'm wrong DownHome, but I believe it's an 855 (it's one of the tags for this thread).

      Runs good
Sheet metal is very straight, great candidate for restoration.

Blade is straight and lots of cutting edge left... just a little rusty.

I am attempting to convert a K321 from a Ford/Deere style throttle-governor to wheelhorse style. The hole shown is where the bolt attaches the bellcrank that the governor spring and throttle rod connect. The Hole on this block is there but was not tapped out to screw in a 1/4" bolt,  also about half way in is some hard as #$$@ metal insert that has ate 4 drill bits. How do I get this tapped?

Thinking about trying a foot pedal throttle on my WH,
Has anyone ever tried it and how did it work out?

      Thanks!
