chorusguy 227 #1 Posted February 28, 2016 Beautiful weather here in central North Carolina today. Not a cloud in the sky and in the 60s. Graded one garden plot, and tilled them all. Also built one compost bin.
AMC RULES 37,144 #2 Posted February 28, 2016 Really looks great... but wonder, did you use a to till them plots?
chorusguy 227 #3 Posted February 28, 2016 Yeah baby. Use two of the herd today. One to grade and one to till. The only reason to Garden is to get seat time

Daddy Don 907 #6 Posted February 29, 2016 Tilled mine here in OKC last week. Going to start planting next week. Wish I had as much area as you have. Still I used a wheel horse to do the work.
chorusguy 227 #7 Posted February 29, 2016 Regarding the compost bin. I suspected as much. But pallets are plentiful and often free. Never gardened before so this is all new to me

Looks interesting, just make sure your pallets aren't pressure treated, you don't want any of those chemicals in your compost. And when the pallets are done, you might be able to just flip them over and get more use out of them.

They are initially filled to the top with leaves and clippings; at one year old I combine two or three together and at the end of the second year they are ready to use. We add kitchen scraps (peelings, egg shells nut shells etc.) throughout the year. My wife is a city girl and was very skeptical but has become a real convert. Well bless her heart. I do the veggies and my bride handles to flowers. Try some tight fitting nitrate mechanic's gloves for your bride. It might help, but not every time. Made up several seed tapes too. Tractors are ready to go. I have the use of my arm back this year. So, I am excited and even more "chompin at the bit" to get going than usual. Happy gardening all..
