Achto 27,609 #1 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Found this tractor that I'm interested in buying, but I have no idea how much to offer. Can anyone tell me what it is? Any pics of what it should look like would be great too,if anyone has some. Edited February 26, 2016 by achto

Sparky-(Admin) 21,337 #4 Posted February 26, 2016 That circle on the front of the hood made me think it's a Baird Beaver at first......but I'm already second guessing myself. Maybe a Speedex? Mike.....

The rear end doesn't look like a car axle, I believe it is chain drive. It has a really crude transmission. I've combed through a lot of pics, Springfield, Devere Locke, Panzer, Speed Ex, Roper, Rugg, but I haven't seen anything that looks like this thing. Kinda driving me a little crazy.
Aldon 4,826 #7 Posted February 27, 2016 My guess is for something not yet mentioned. I can't match up the extruded oval on front. Hopefully someone one identifies it so I can stop surfing net:-)

Achto 27,609 #9 Posted February 27, 2016 Well my biological alarm clock went off at 4am this morning, so I decided to do a little more looking for a while. In my search I came up with this picture and a name. It sure looked like the tractor I'm interested in. Picture is small but now that I had a name I looked for more pics. One thing I remember was thinking how crude the transmission was, it's been a while since I looked at this thing. This picture confirmed that I had found the right name for the tractor. That's the transmission I remembered. Enough talk. From the great state of Indiana.... the "McLean" tractor. This one is not one of their 3 wheeled (Big Wheel) models, but I'm quite sure that it is a McLean. Now that I have a name & a price in my head, The next challenge, finding the owner. He's hard to get a hold of, Almost as hard as finding this name was. Thanks for looking everyone.
Aldon 4,826 #10 Posted February 28, 2016 Achto, I got to hand it to you mate, that was seriously a treasure hunt just to identify it. As little info as is on the Internet, it seems it must be rare indeed. Kinda a cool project if you can obtain it and put it in working order again. Happy Hunting!
Achto 27,609 #11 Posted February 29, 2016 Purchase is made, just have to wait for the snow to melt enough so I can get to it. With no parts readily available I think this is going to be a great challenge.
