Wheelhouse rj 35 14 #1 Posted February 16, 2016 I have a wheelhorse ride away Jr. I don't know much about it. I believe it's a rj 35. It has black rimes and the tractor is purple. I have only seen a few purple ones. I would appreciate any info any one would have. Thank you!!

RedRanger 1,468 #4 Posted February 16, 2016 Looks red to me. What purple? Personally, I'd clean it up and leave it alone.

Wheelhouse rj 35 14 #7 Posted February 16, 2016 Hey thank you for the replays. The tires are original. I don't know what year it is. Thank you jsp 333 I'm going to try that and see how it comes out.
jsp_333 267 #8 Posted February 16, 2016 FYI Went to paint section in local Walmart and cleaned them out of the steel wool. Took home 5 bags of the stuff and I know it's all gone now. Just remember nice and easy. Don't want to take the paint off. You're lucky you got the belt cover (That thingy lying on the frame just below the seat where the engine is supposed to go) Originals are hard to find. Do you have an engine for it.? And at some point you're going to have to explain how it's purple Cheers
Wheelhouse rj 35 14 #9 Posted February 17, 2016 My parents got the tractor from a relative in the late 80s. I just figured it was faded purple. It had a motor when I got it. It would shoot the plug out. I was young then and pulled the old motor and got rid of it. I hate that I did that. It sat in a shed for years I just pulled it out this fall. Is there any way I can tell what year and model it is? This is my 1st wheelhorse. I'm almost done with a 1948 simplicity walking tractor. Any help with the wheel horse would be great! Thanks! jsp_333 267 #11 Posted February 17, 2016 There are certainly many members with more knowledge then moi but if I had to bet I'd say it's same as mine - a '57 rj35. Hood appears to be in good shape. Any holes or cracks in it? Once you get her cleaned up you'll have a better idea of what you've got. You'll have to find a Kohler K90 engine for it. I believe they also shipped with a k91 or a Clinton 1200. Start looking now - it might take awhile or you could stumble upon one next week. You never know Looks like your missing some stuff other than just the engine, not surprising, anyway you'll find the manual is here. Good Luck
Wheelhouse rj 35 14 #12 Posted February 17, 2016 I noticed that the handle for the lift is broken and no hitch in the back. The only thing that came with it is a trailer. The hood has a crack in it where the gas tank fill is and there is a small dent in the front. I had found a k90 motor but was out bid for it. I really kick my self for getting rid of the motor, it was fixable. Reverse Worked about a week, the disk was wiped out.
AMC RULES 37,127 #13 Posted February 17, 2016 Can we see the trailer too please?
953 nut 55,056 #14 Posted February 17, 2016 That is a very original sweet looking '57 RJ-35. I hope you saved the pulley off of the motor, it is a rather special unit that functions as a reversing mechanism as well as a drive pulley. there is a person that reproduces the pulley for about $100 if you don't have it; or you could just go forward. Wheelhouse rj 35 14 #15 Posted February 17, 2016 I don't have a picture of the trailer. I will take one and post it this weekend. I don't think it's a wheelhorse trailer. It's just a small blue one. I don't have the pulley any more.im not to worry about going in reverse. I just got wd 40 and steel wool #0000. I'm going to try to clean it up.
