pennex92573 0 #1 Posted February 16, 2016 I have a wheel horse 520h you put it at a certain speed to go down a hill it will pick up speed until you move the lever back then it will slow down when you get to the bottom of the hill on the flat you have to move the lever forward to go can any body tell me whats wrong with it is it the pump or trans ect thanks
can whlvr 993 #2 Posted February 16, 2016 all my hydros will go faster down hill,if your lever isn't staying in place you can tighten the nut on the top of the tranny where the linkage joins the pump,it wont take much, but as far as down hill creeping its pretty common on older machines
Ed Kennell 38,814 #3 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Yes, they do drift on the down slopes, but my two Eatons don't seem to be as bad as the Sundstrands. Oh, fom another York Countian. Edited February 16, 2016 by ekennell
MalMac 1,331 #4 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) A naturally inherited trait. Nothing wrong with it. Unless it's takes off on an all out freewheel. Then I would say you would have a problem and are in for one heck of a ride. Edited February 16, 2016 by MalMac

DougC 2,641 #7 Posted February 16, 2016 Both my 88 and 95 520H gain a little down a slope. Makes for an interesting ride especially when turning at the bottom.....
cleat 6,420 #8 Posted February 16, 2016 Matt's foot pedal kit will help if no totally alleviate this. The Hydro in my old Ford LGT165 would really gain speed, almost scary, but I got used to it. The 520's and Matt's kit are a pleasure on steep hills.

pfrederi 17,913 #10 Posted February 16, 2016 That is why on hilly terrain I love my C175-8 as Ron Popiel used to say on TV "Set it and forget it" No speed change up or down.
