Retired Sparky 526 #1 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) I needed a hitch to tow my wood splitter around the backyard. Adding a ball off the pin hitch was too low. I thought of adding a bar across the horns that held the leaf bagger and then adding a piece of 2''x1/4'' to mount the 2'' ball on. It wound up quite simple and the right height. I had to offset the ball because the tougue on the spliter is offset left of center. That keeps all the tires inline. The receiver for the ball is right in line with the wedge. So as not the mess it up when splitting I put in on a hinge. The tongue weight on the splitter is only a couple of pounds and the 2''x4'' alum. sq. stock I used does the job just fine. The hitch is tough enough so I can tow my 4'x8' utility around the yard if I need to. That's my $.02 for today. elcamino/wheelhorse 9,295 #2 Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing like ole retired guys coming up with ideas that are not expensive and work. Being retired meaning pinching pennies where ever possible. That's a nice set up.
