scso81 1 #1 Posted February 1, 2016 Hello all, I just acquired two D-250's, one is the early style, one the later style. However both have bad steering. I was thinking of taking the two and making one good box, but I will still need bearings and gaskets. The second I would like to change it over to hydraulic steering. Has anyone done a hydraulic conversion to one of these tractors? steering and maybe even a pump? Does anyone know a good source for parts? I am new here and would appreciate any assistance. The one gear box I have has been cracked due to I believe being full of water, the second had bearings ground up in it like coffee.

scso81 1 #5 Posted February 17, 2016 It appears not to many people have or mess with the D250's.... By any chance does anyone have a parts breakdown of the steering gearbox? I just want to make sure I have the correct bearings in the correct place when I go to put it back together. Also does anyone have a D250 parts tractor for sale? mjmccarthy85 21 #10 Posted April 25, 2016 Just picked up a D250 and my steering is pretty loose. How did you make out? Is there any adjustment I can try and do? Mine has a loader so steering is tough. Power steering would be awesome haha!
scso81 1 #11 Posted April 27, 2016 Hi mj The steering issue was a pain. Most that I have run across are either damaged in some way or just out and out scrap. Fortunately I have a cousin who is a machinist. We got our heads together and with a little of his skill and our brains we were able to rebuild my boxes using aftermarket thrust bearings. Now all I have to do is mount one of them and give it a try. But so far looks like it will work great and possibly out last the original! Maybe I should do an update with pics. Hmmmmm
maxiblue 352 #12 Posted May 1, 2016 Hi: I to is looking to convert to power steering, a lot of years ago I saw it on the net but never paid attention to it. Now I was looking for it and could not find it. If I think back it told what steering column and gear box to use a what pump was needed, but I can't think of the rest.
