Let's see, it is August 11, 2023.  I just re-read this whole thread.  It brought back a lot of good memories.  It still reads well and has a fair amount of humor.  I love that we did this thread.  :USA:  :occasion-xmas:

I just finished one for my friend Tim (VT Tim) thanks to Steve and others info here it was a breeze except for a couple of issues.

The pictures of the bearing installation in an early post was wrong and of course I installed the bearings in the wrong places so I ruined them getting them back out with the welder lol.

The original early seal style axle tubes are quite a bit longer than the later ones with the outer type axle seal. I replaced his and had to trim them quite a bit, I forget how much.

After about 10 beers I got all of the gears in correctly.

Do a search of this site for threads about “pulling hubs” or “hub puller” and you’ll find a lot of information

WHX??

Get a bearing collar on back of them. DO NOT pull by the ears. Ask me how I know.

@WHX??  https://www.autozone.com/transmission-and-drive-train/pilot-bearing/p/cta-manufacturing-corporation-2-1-4in-bearing-separator/470974_0_0   you want to pull at the strongest fit point , directly  at axel connection , not outer flange , also KROIL PENETRANT , days out remove set bolt , rust runs out , like  dead blow hammer , to  help out initial movement , nothing sarcastic implied , just what works , pete
