That's the words I couldn't think of, drift cutters. Ok, Jack, 2 POINTS there.  And yes, a nice job on them.

Drift cutters are Ariens, and yes I had these wings on a wheel horse snowblower about 20 years ago and they worked.

Makes it straight down the side like the 2 stage. I was blowing ice crystal snow around 4" deep capped with a layer of ice a few days ago with it. Problem with that one is the blower wanted to push back into the already blown path.

Better in that it did not get you stuck but it took a few tries to get the sides done.

I have not tried ou the single stage yet, but if it pulls you into the snow that could be a problem for sure.

Your sides look great BTW.

Great job, I can see where that would help. Looks like you have the extensions supported very good also. Thanks for sharing.       :thumbs2:

Interesting modification and nice fabrication. I have thought of using a drift cutter like what European snowblowers have. It is a square hoop that projects out that cuts into the drift.

I haven't noticed that reaction though with my 523Dxi and the single-stage snowthrower. The additional ront end weight that I have  could be factor
