RedRanger 1,468 #1 Posted December 11, 2015 What is this rod and what is it for? Goes through the bottom of the frame side to side, but I see no purpose for it???

They had the poor thing sitting out in the cold. The seat foam was also solid ice.
prondzy 3,881 #4 Posted December 11, 2015 Not 100% positive but I think someone just put a rod through those 2 holes maybe for tie downs? I always hook my straps through those holes.
oldredrider 2,548 #5 Posted December 11, 2015 Those holes are designed for the old style mule for the 2 belt drive system which power the tiller. Are there pulleys on the other side of the rod? If not, it's probably just a tie down spot as mentioned above.
RedRanger 1,468 #6 Posted December 11, 2015 Other side looks the same as this side. Steel rod with nylon/plastic covers on the end. Almost looks factory. I was thinking maybe it was for some other attachment? Maybe not? It's got this one on the front RH side of the frame as well that I've posted about before with no answers... oldredrider 2,548 #7 Posted December 11, 2015 That thingy in the last picture might be a spring mount for a mid mount idler. Almost looks like it used to be a Kohler engine lifting point.
