mrc 859 #1 Posted November 15, 2015 hello men, a long time friend where i work is retiring next year. we'll call him RH. RH has helped me with innumerable projects over 35 years. so i figured i would give him one of my horses to say thank you and help make his retirement a little easier. my plan was to set it up with a nice 42 inch SD deck i have. truth be told i bought this tractor from another member who did the paint and decals. he did a super nice job. the tractor has been in my long term storage for quite some time. this tractor has a mind of its own. it does not want to leave my herd so to speak. i replaced both axle seals. broke one hub because i got impatient and used my impact gun in conjunction with my hub puller. luckily my buddy mark welded it up good as new. 40 plus years of welding experience will do that. next i replaced the brake band seal and the input shaft seal. now the tranny does not leak. i added lug nuts instead of bolts and went with chrome lugnuts for some bling. i cleaned and repacked the front wheel bearings. put on some nice turfs on the front and some new carlisle ags on the back. added a way cool bud andrews exhaust stack. fabbed a brace for the black pipe used to route the exhaust. even scored some new rubber bumpers for the seat pan and hood from my dealer. fresh 30w rotella "T" oil. new fuel lines and an inline filter. plus the usual maintenance. had it running great. would like to correct the right front wheel misalignment problem. and now i think the fuel pump went south. tractor won't start and gas pours out of the fuel line after the pump until i shut off the petcock at the tank. diaphragm blown? hope you guys like the pics. mike in mass.

Wheel-N-It 2,969 #6 Posted November 15, 2015 I like. I like a lot. The tractor and your thoughtfulness. Agreed ! The fuel pump could be bad or the needle in the carb may be stuck closed. I had that happen to me this Summer with a Wheel Horse I was building for a friend.

JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,498 #9 Posted November 16, 2015 When I retired all I got was a cake, wish I had worked with Mike! Very nice. my retirement was walking out the door one day, done. no One knew but me and the boss. I didnt want cake, soda, hand shakes, nothing. I still see the folks every once in a while. I am just not one for fanfare and trumpet blowing. I like slipping beneath the waves like a submarine. Silent. There and gone. Lolbut now ,, knowing this ,, wonder if i would have got a wheel horse,,,,,,,nah,,,,,,,,maybe a box with my pencils n it.glenn

mrc 859 #14 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) hello men, hope i don't get in trouble with the moderators, but AMC RULES (craig) asked for jeepster with plow pics. so here ya go craig. its a 56 willys cab and front clip on a severely shortened late 70's chevy truck frame. 350 cubic inch engine, NP205 t-case and SM465 tranny. turns on a dime. really pushes snow!!! hope you guys enjoy the pics. thanks to my buddy phil for the help with loading these pics. i forgot to mention the tow boom is a late 1920's early 1930's weaver auto crane. it is the 3 ton model. it is hand cranked and still works great! regards mike in mass. mrc 859 #17 Posted November 23, 2015 hi guys, with the spindle corrected on the C100 and a few last minute touches the tractor was ready for delivery to RH. when i got there his wife before seeing the tractor commented "we have enough junk" she came out to watch it being offloaded and was impressed. she even said she could drive that tractor. RH was at work as we work different shifts these days. i wanted to surprise him. the next day day he came up to me at work just before the shift change. he was astounded that i was giving him the tractor. he loved it. getting the tractor in/out of my truck can get dicey.(i do not have a trailer) i would like to thank my special friend, real deal navy seal RB who always helps load/unload and is a big help around the garage. on the way back from RH's house we stopped at the american legion and had some cold ones. nice end to a good day. best regards mike in mass.
AMC RULES 37,144 #18 Posted November 26, 2015 Like the perfect machine to have around the house... only thing the Willys lacks, is a deck to do the mowing with.
squonk 41,940 #19 Posted November 26, 2015 Does the back end lift off the ground when you ram snow banks with it?
Brian01 481 #20 Posted November 26, 2015 I'd say probably so, if it were mine, I'd build a weight bracket to go on the rear.

Likewise, does the front end come off the ground when you hook the wrecker to a vehicle with such a short wheelbase?
mrc 859 #22 Posted November 28, 2015 hi guys, squonk: yes, sometimes it gets a little bouncy. generally at the end of a push i'm ramping up /attempting to stack the snow. i try not to ram the pile as that is how things break. but, sometimes ramming speed is the only way to move the pile. 953 nut: i never hooked anything as heavy as a vehicle to the wrecker. the plow would make a nice front counterweight though.
