Rollerman 290 #1 Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) Thought I share some pics of the Homesteader Tractor I picked up this summer & my ugly mug here on RedSquare.I shared these on Facebook earlier this year too.A little history, The Homesteader tractor was made in Clinton, Arkansas in the mid 70ies by Bill Anderson.A side business to his trailer manufacturing.Made with 8 & 10HP Tucky power, 11HP B&S (mine), 16HP Kohler & a 7HP Lister diesel intended for the export market. They use a Peerless 2300 4 speed gearbox with chain reduction from the Peerless axles to the wheel hubs. The steering is just as crude with, but functional with two sprockets & a chain.Yes...those really are wheelbarrow tires on front & how they were made. The tractor came with a snowplow, garden plow, cultivators & what was left of 48' mower deck.I really enjoyed turning the garden with it after we were done for the year. The seat get's a little hot....should be an easy fix with a Cub style muffler. It's a tuff little tractor & about as simple as you can make one.Bill Anderson must have appreciated function over style. 953 nut 55,241 #2 Posted November 12, 2015 Like you said, not much on style but you would think they could have put a 90 on the exhaust pipe and a 12" pipe to get it away from your butt.

oliver2-44 9,754 #4 Posted November 13, 2015 I like that rear lift. Reminds me of the lift on the old Farmalls and Deeres before 3 pt.

Rollerman 290 #10 Posted November 16, 2015 Very simple in design, but hey, its a worker. Done a nice plowing job! Thanks...with the front wheel in the furrow it steers itself. Would love to see more of the rear end and final drive! Dennis if you look at that second picture down you can see the chain leading back to the right side wheel hub.The trans sets ahead of the engine in the middle of the tractor.Instead of hubs on the axles, there are sprockets with chains running back to the wheel hubs. @Rollerman Good to see you stop by old friend, I was wondering if you'd forgotten about us! Nah...just been a little overwhelmed with work last few years. I love seeing, reading and learning of old tractors like yours...Thanks for the pics and history info!! Thanks! Not much on the Homesteader Tractors, kind of obscure.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,299 #14 Posted August 7, 2017 @Rollerman Thanks I missed your thread the first time around. That is some machine. With that muffler it would be a butt warmer.
