gas cap

I am almost sure my gas cap is not original to my 1967 lawn ranger.
The cap is off white and plastic, and does not thread perfectly but goes on.
Can anyone post a pic of an original cap and let me know if its metal or plastic and what color should it be?
thanks,
Gino

Looks like your pictures have a flat steel gas cap, should be easy enough to find.
thanks.

The originals were flat and steel like pictured.  They are an odd smaller diameter though.
Harder to find than you think.  The ones on Ebay that look similar are larger diameter and fit the full size tractors.

The replacements are red plastic, sold by toro dealers.

as redranger said , those gas caps seam to be an odd thread

the only flat steel gas cap i have found to work is an Arnold / Ace Hardware 72906. but they are still hard to find... i ordered several from my local ACE

here is one on ebay for you to look at

I will let you know, are you going to paint yours red?

I assume so.  Looks like they were sprayed red with the tank from the factory.
Screw it on and paint the whole tank.
