RMCIII 838 #1 Posted November 8, 2015 Well, here is the Sovereign ready for winter. I finally got the handle to fit inside the cab. Took a little modification with the mounting bracket, but it works now. Also took a close up of the rubber paddle I put on to improve the performance of the blower. The left side of the cab covers where the rear engine fan is mounted, so it get's HOT!
DougC 2,641 #2 Posted November 8, 2015 You'll be nice and toasty while the blowers attacking the snow drifts.......

Wishin4a416 2,191 #4 Posted November 8, 2015 Looks like you are ready!! I'm gonna have to try that rubber add on trick. Let us know if it helps much. I heard it does.
Ed Kennell 38,227 #5 Posted November 8, 2015 I had two short chute blowers set up one with and one w/o the rubber paddle. I was going to test them in the same snow on the same tractor.Unfortunately before I got the snow to do the test, I got a tall chute and sold both of the short chutes. I have put one on the tall chute, thinking it can only help.
RMCIII 838 #6 Posted November 9, 2015 Will definitely circle back around and report on the rubber.
Wheel-N-It 2,969 #7 Posted November 17, 2015 Thats a really good looking setup you have. If Wheel Horses did not exist I would definetly be a Simplicity collector.
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #8 Posted November 18, 2015 We will be looking for videos to compare the 518xi to your new Soveirgn. I saw a Steiner on a trailer a few weeks back and remembered our conversation on them.
RMCIII 838 #9 Posted November 18, 2015 John - I am not going to hold any snow blower to the "bar" that the 518 set! Not unless I do something with the drive pulleys. That single stage spun so fast on the Wheel Horse, it was scary! It almost sounded like a small turbine when at WOT. I have read a couple articles that mention replacing the 7" pulley for 5.5" pulley. But my concern becomes then the bearings. If you are turning the auger faster, that means the bearings are taking on more heat. I know that a bearing should be able to take faster rpms, but then again, when I had crappy bearings on the "XI" I had to replace them with one's that were $60/each. Rambling I know. I'll make sure I get my wife to "help" with the video again. I am sure she will "LOVE" that job after the video of the XI!RMC
