Toro 1028 Powershift breaking the drive chain

I have a Toro Powershift 1028 that the wheel drive chain is too loose and breaks the drive chain. I have replaced the chain and master link already hoping it was stretched out. The sprockets look okay but I plan to replace them anyway. Is there an adjustment to move the engine away from the transaxle so the chain is more tight?
Is there a service manual available?
Please advise,

What is the model number and serial number?

don't forget you can buy half-links, find out what pitch and size the chain is and remove a whole link to put the half link in it's place.

I bought the chain and master link from the local Toro dealer. I have not seen half links at the dealer or at the hardware store only full master links.
I will look up the model and serial number tonight.

there's plenty on the online auction site, you won't need a master link as the half link will probably have a split pin to hold in the pin. (some might not though)

My snow blower model is 38560 and the serial number is 210000336 with a 10 hp techumseh engine.
Is there a service manual available here?

Noticed this AM that 3/4 of the file has disappeared likely because it was too large.

Where do I PRY to adjust the slack out of the wheel drive chain the manual do not specify once the pivot bolts are loosened?

I was able to take out as much slack in the chain as possible although I think I may need to shorten the chain some more. Put the shifter in second gear and have some one hold it there.To adjust the drive chain loosen the gold anodized pivot bolt near the tires and loosen the bolt in the slotted adjustment hole. Turn off the fuel shutoff and take a walmart type plastic bag on the threads of the fuel cap and screw it tight to prevent fuel spillage. Put the snow blower up in its service position on the auger housing face. Push on the black painted transmission bracket that holds the aluminum transmission housing with a pry bar or large screw driver inwards to the middle of the housing. Then tighten the pivot and adjustment slot bolts there are four total. Once that is done and adjust the external transmission linkage belcrank at the transmission end. Remove the nylock nut and loosen Jamb nut and shorten or lengthen as needed. Then reassemble and test the operation of the shifter and power shift for proper operation. It took me several times of shortening and lengthening the threads to get it correct.

 

Anyone know what size chain that is used so I know what I need to buy new master link when I shorten it?

Take a rule or tape and measure from center link to center link If it measures 3/8" it's 3/8" pitch or # 35 chain. If it measures 1/2" it's 1/2" pitch or # 40 or # 41. # 40 is a a bit wider and a heavier duty chain then #41. The roller width of #41 is 1/4" and the roller width of #40 is 5/16".

I found a chain breaker on the auction site last year for a go-kart that was cheaper. One of the snowblower forums had your model mentioned with a slack chain and to adjust the trans position -  not to adjust the length of the chain.

      Hello everone reading this. Im currently in the process of building a race mower out of a front engine 8-32 toro. It was sitting outside for the longest time because of a broken axle. It believe it has a vertiical 8 hp b&s that had running. Here is some some photos of it.  I put a bifferent transaxle in because it was spare one laying around. I put it on and it fits pretty well. Altho i had to remove all the clutch and shifter parts to get it in, but hey it works. I got a wheel on and tried getting the other off the axle it was on. So i put it in the press and tried for about a half hour before in popped loose. After that it took me about 15 mins and got it off. It was really  rusted on there! Put it on the transaxle to how it fits and looks. Now im in the process of drilling a hole the axle for the key in the wheels. Any suggestions or ideas? I will update this project when do some more work on it.

      This is a beast!   Comes with the 60" deck and also a 48" deck and a new battery.  New belt (installed but unused), newer hoses, regular maintenance.   
       
      There are wheel weights too but idk if they fit this unit as I've never tried.

      I got a zero turn and a Kubota tractor and this has sadly become ignored.

      Okay, no pictures because its at my grandpas farm. no clue what toro it is at all. it appears to be a 1986 11-32. The front is different than a 11-32 and it has no side panels like a 11-32. heres a picture of a 11-32 toro      it doesnt have the panels that say toro. the toro logo is on the front and above where panels would be. im just wondering if any body kwows about it because the rear left axle broke off right at the end of the transaxle inside the case. not sure if i can just take the case apart and put a different one in. its not a wheel horse/ toro.

      I was getting my riding mower ready for another season, changed the oil, filter, and I tilted the mower on it’s side to change the blades, just as I do year after year (my tractor is about 12 years old!) so once I was done and I got the mower back I found this piece laying on the ground. I have carefully examined the deck and I can’t seem to find where this would go. I tried checking the manual and a couple websites to see if I could identify the piece and no luck, anyone know where this goes? Thank you in advance!
