520 replacement light switch

Recommended Posts

My 91 520h is missing a light switch.  It was that way when I got it, and although I'm never out in the dark its been nagging at me to have that hole there with the wires hanging.

Before I go and blow $25 on a new genuine toro switch, I figured I'd just post here and see if anyone has found a drop-in replacement at a more reasonable price, or available locally.  I tried to find one at the big box stores, but didn't have any luck, and radio shack is pretty much useless these days.  With out the original to compare with, it is hard for me to tell exactly what will clip in to place properly.  If I was desperate I could go with any old switch and get it mounted, but I'd prefer the OEM look.

Thanks!

I think it is a standard size appliance SPST rocker switch.  Not lighted.  Two prongs.
I got one at a boat supply store a couple of years ago for about 4 bucks.
Check the opening.  Standard opening size is .55 inches by 1.125 inches.
Del City has tons of switches, and would be much less than a Toro replacement.

Any auto supply store would have one that will fit, just take the dimensions and a ruler with you.

Thanks for the help!  I've been checking out local stores since I posted this.  Home depot doesn't carry any rocker switches any more, just a small selection of toggles.  My local hardware didn't have one that was quite right, the closest one was illuminated which I considered rigging up.  Then I found one at Auto Zone that snapped right in!  I also wanted to pick up up some gauge lights, as all of mine are burn out except one - they had them but they were quite expensive and I needed more than just the 2 in a single pack, so I ended up ordering those on amazon.

Thanks again for the help!  Glad to finally have a dash that doesn't have a hole in it :)
