Couple standard type mod questions.

New to wheelhorses, so bare with me here.   Have a bunch of questions and ideas, now if I can get some answers I'm gonna start ordering things! I've posted in several threads, but the owner either won't tell, or never sees the questions.. dunno.

Eitherway, I'm really wanting to put some nice meaty 24x12x12 carlisle at101 tires on my 414-8 for a wider stance and better traction.. and of course good looks!  I only have the smaller 42" mower deck so the wheels can't stick out crazy wide, and the goofy gas tank is so wide.. not sure if the wheels will fit safely behind the deck or not?

I love the look of this pic. . And a custom gas tank would be required obviously.  But anyone know the rim specs? Backspacing and width?  Anyone have pics of a 414-8 with larger wider tires?

Second is the tractor will pop a wheelie with ease.. and the little air dampener thing on the clutch seems blown cause there's barely any shock absorption abilities at all to it.  Where can I pick one up at?

This is the dampener I'm talking about on the drive belt.. can't find a part number and don't know what it's called to search. Any help?

I'm thinking your tires will hit the deck wheels. Folks putting 23-10.50-12's have the issue.

Older tractors only had the clutch spring. Then for a period they went with a strut only. Like a strut on a hatchback that pushed the idler arm to tighten the belt.  Then they went with a spring and damper (no push/pull, just dampen). My 2005 had that. I hated the bit of delay it caused but I guess it kept folks from popping the clutch. I removed the damper and just use the spring and now it's like I'm used to and I have no issues at all. You may want to try an OEM belt and make sure the pulleys are clean. It might be grabbing. I did another run to the garage and got the damper I removed. I was going to ask you to send a picture of your and if it's the same I'll give you mine. Then I saw that you posted pics. Yours is entirely different than mine. What year is your 414? :)

If you feel you must have one you may be able to get one from Toro but you may not like the $$.

Well that's depressing on the tires.. the 23x10.50's are so small these days.  As for the year..I thought it was an 88 but im not sure at all really. I'll have to look for the id numbers.  It was given to me by my father.

I was working on the tractor fixing a bunch of small items when I noticed.. it looks like there's only 2 bolts holding the engine to the tractor!!?  The 2 mounting bolts on the pto side are just hanging off the side? Is there suppose to be an engine plate on a 414-8?

You're fine. The two bolts on the right side come up through the frame into threaded holes in the oil pan. The overhang is normal.:)

Does anyone make a narrow gastank for the rear of this tractor?  The only thing sticking out outback that a wider wheel with a larger backspacing would hit is the tank and it's brackets.

Again like the one I posted above..  any ideas what kind of skinny tanks would fit out back narrow to the frame?
