chorusguy 227 #1 Posted October 18, 2015 OK. Turned over the ground and tilled it. Planted winter rye. Who know if this is all for naught but I had a hella good time doing it
KC9KAS 4,741 #2 Posted October 18, 2015 @chorusguy Looks good! What did you do to the plow to get it to work for you?
chorusguy 227 #3 Posted October 18, 2015 I actually didn't. I think the beam is slightly bent. The blade tip angle slightly to the left of the Coulter and I can see the bow in the beam. That could possibly make it track wide. I really don't know. I will be looking for another one. Hopefully a wheelhorse one. Anyway. It was leaving about a 4 inch gap but the tiller made pretty short work of it. I tilled parallel to my furrows to break everything up and then went crossways to make sure that the hills were completely broken down. They pretty much were. That combo worked well. The tiller was having a tough time breaking up this new ground but went through like butter after I turned it over
rokon 64 #4 Posted October 18, 2015 Nice work! you are lucky to have land to put in a nice big garden like that.
chorusguy 227 #5 Posted October 19, 2015 We'll see how it goes. IT is nice to have that land but it is a lot of mowing. I figure if I have to work that much it should pay me back something. Thinking about working towards a little truck farm concept. The ground will need some ammending but I do get volunteer blueberry bushes so they will definitely be part of the mix. The funny thing is I don't cook. So not sure what I will do with anything I grow. We put in a garden at my church for the local food bank so that is a possibility. I may just end up feeding the deer and the birds
