Could you tell me more about the fancy seat on the 420 tractor with the folding arm rests? Flip up the seat and look for a label. It may say Michigan seat and or something like that and a part number.
Thank you,
mike

It does say Michigan seat. But I don't see any others labels.

I was thinking about getting a chrome cup holder.:sad-bored:

Michigan Seat might have had a part number for this seat, but it was special made for Wheel Horse.  It reportedly cost $700 back in 1986 to have it made.  It put the "special" in LSE.

Its probably designed that way to help induce the gangster lean you should have while driving that tricked out pimpmobile around :laughing-rofl:

I did a little sanding and painting on the side panels. Why is it the powder coated paints lift off the metal after a while. The paint on my 40 year old tractors holds up better than the newer powder coated paint. Merry Christmas to all!!

I'm not a full convert to powder coating.  Seen too many failures.  Seen many paint failures too but I understand them. Someone here made a comment that powder coat was for lookers and paint was for workers, or something like that.  For now I tend to agree.  I have done some powder coating but only used it as a very small test.  I'm curious how others feel so it might be interesting to start another thread, Paint vs Powder Coat.  But for now, Merry Christmas to all as well!

I have been researching powder coating and would be interested in what others have experienced as well.

I had a pressure washer that I assume was powder coated, and it was a pain to get it off, paint was much easier. The pressure washer had a wrinkle type finish

Powder coating gets a bad rap for no fault of its own. there is nothing wrong with the paint itself once you understand how it differs from regular paint. the biggest enemy for powder is sharp edges......

in fact in the industry i work in, powder passes salt spray testing way longer than any of the wet coat industrial paints available today. its all in the preparation. the metal needs to have a 'profile' for proper adhesion and edges need to be slightly rounded. prep is the key here and that goes for any paint.......

I'm pretty much finished cleaning the 420LSE. I just have get the gold plate made for the hood. Overall it's in pretty nice shape. I put some new tires on the back. The bottom seat could be redone at some point. I patched one hole as best as I could. I'm very happy overall with her. Can't wait to mow with it!!!

Very nice and clean now. It won't stay that way long if you mow with it  ... Maybe she could be on pull cart duty instead?

      Hello All,
New to the group and looking for advice. My father was a devoted wheel horse enthusiast for many years. He only cut grass with a wheel horse tractor (rear discharge deck) pulling a Parker lawn sweeper. We have a lot of property and it took him a while but he was retired and loved being on the wheel horse. When he got sick, I had to take over all the lawn maintenance. All of our family lives close on the same road. At the time, I was responsible for maintaining 7 properties plus my fulltime job. Using the wheel horse was not an option for me so I bought a commercial zero turn mower.  Unfortunately, in 2017 my father passed away. I have all his tractors and it has been hard for me to think about what to do with them. He had 6 wheel horse tractors total. 3 tractors we used for cutting grass and 3 tractors are show pieces that have never cut a blade of grass. I have a few guys that have been asking me for years to sell them but I am not sure if I’m ready. I am turning to the group because I am lost at what I even have. Its my belief that the tractors are rare and the conditions are mint. If anyone would be willing to express their opinion and provide feedback I would be grateful.

Bought this 420 LSE. It’s #37/200. More of a worker than a show tractor. I’ll probably continue to use it as a worker. Needs some cosmetic elbow grease more than anything.
Came with 48” deck, & wheel horse grass catcher system, Snow Blower, 2 aerators, (plug & spike type), & a grass thatcher.

So about a year ago jimt1971 started talking with Pilgrim regarding a worker 420LSE.  Long story short the neighbor or friend (I can't remember which) purchased the tractor to use.  We werr okay with this as we were told that if the person who got it didn't like it, he might get it back.  Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Jimt1971 got word that pilgrim got the tractor back and wanted to see if he was still interested in purchasing it.  The price was agreed to, and we hoped that Pilgrim could make it to the WHCC show😥 unfortunately he was not able to make it, sooo we agreed to go out to his place to pick it up.  We left at 5:30am, and started our 12 hour road trip...got to Pilgrims, and got to spend a small amount of time with him and his wife before having to head back home.  I have to say that Pilgrim and his wife are two of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of meeting.  They were amazingly sweet, and a pleasure to do business with.  Today we got to take a better look at the tractor, and we plan on restoring it back to its former glory.  The one thing thatvwill remain is the decal from the mower shop that it came from to preserve its history!!

Without further adeau, here are the pics
