Just bought my first wheel horse!  Going to use it for snow plowing mainly.   Wanting to know if 23X9.5 ag tires will work on her without modification and if it's a good idea.  Has 8hp 8 spd

:WRS:NICE!! Did they go electric start with the 8hp?

23x9.5 will work fine but who makes them ags in that size? I was thinking it was 23x8.5 or 10.5. You'll also find that turf with chains would be better for snow. I like the 2 link chains.

Oh yea...................:wwp:

Stayed with pull start, but that's okay,  less to go wrong.   Starts in 2 pulls,  I'll see if I change my mind this winter.   I ordered chains,  just thinking bigger tires look so cool.  Love my new horse.  Thanks for reply. I'll get pics up soon,  she's in really good shape.   Needs paint.

With an 8 I'd like the pull start too. Looking forward to the pics :handgestures-thumbupright:

A nice thing about 76 (as well as some other years) is that you've got an 8 pinion diff and 1 1/8" axles just like the higher hp's.

I saw that '76 was a good year to have the b model when I was investigating what I'd bought.   Did good for firsty I think.   I'm looking at 5 wheel weights but I I'm not home,  do you happen to know the bolt hole pattern? 6" 6.5" for the weights.

The bolt pattern for weights on a 12" wheel is  4 - 1/2" square holes eq. sp. @ 8 5/8" dia.

I am glad to have her.   The more I looked and messed around on it,  the happier I was.  I was surprised the pulling power an 8hp little tractor has.

Cool.  I was thinking they didn't look as narrow as 6 or so.   Thanks.

8hp is a great little motor and does good on gas too.

I will second what Racinbob said. Ags are not very good in snow.  There are others here who found that out as well.  Once ice is down, there is just no grip.  Also, if you have a blacktop drive, for heavens sake, do not put latex driveway sealer on it.  That stuff is just like ice.  If you must seal it, mix some sand with as you put it down.

As others have said.....I use turf tires with chains with fluid in the tires for snow plowing, as well as pulling the garden plow....That is with my B-80.

If you have a gravel drive way the AGS would probably work fine with weights

My first horse was a b-60 with electric start. It moved snow just as well as my c-160. Its a great lil tractor. Wish I never sold mine.

Inexpensive - Carlisle X Trac ATV Bias Tire - 16x6.50-8 Good quality (I expect) Should look nice with my large rear aggies
I don't know how much these have been discounted, but I expect anything you find like this from a good brand will be 2X to 3X the price. $45 each at Amazon. This tire is discontinued.

Rough measurement seems they are about 16" tall and the lugs are about 1/2" deep.

Are there aftermarket front rims available for C Series tractors? I have a 120 and a 160 that need front rims… thx.

I’m trying to restore my grandfathers old 252-H to use around my property. The tires are shot and the rims aren’t too far behind. Anyone have any recommendations for rims and tires that would fit well on it?

      right now it has 22 x 7.50 - 12 on the back and 15 x 6 - 6 on the front.

I have a 1990 wheel horse classic model # 31-12KE01 and need to replace all 4 tires. The sizes are 15x6 8 NHS on front and 23x9.5 12 NHS Rear. I'm wondering if anyone has any specific tire they have purchased and found to be reliable? I have an acre yard with a few hills but nothing severe. I've looked at Carlisle, Marastar to name a few. Also do most folks keep the same rims and take them all in at one time to a local tire garage to have them mounted or just buy new ones with rims? Is having the correct size shown above all I need in order to make sure its an exact fit for my tractor?

      Hi,
I just bought my first ever tractor - 1989 520H. One of the front tires has a slow leak, and they are both showing signs of age, so am looking at buying new. When I look at some of the options on the Miller site, they have 3 basic types of tires as options in the 16x6.50-8 size ..
circumferential ribs (either equal sized or central rib larger diameter) ag style chevron 'super lugs' turf tire - quadrilateral overlapping treads
What are the considerations for considering these different tire types ?
The current rear tires are turf type, no weights, but with chains.

I have 1.5 acres, quite hilly, and am using the tractor for some mowing, tilling, and garden plowing.

      Appreciate some perspective, suggestions.
      Regards.
