Brianrollins 5 #1 Posted September 25, 2015 Ok this may be a stupid question coming from me but I really need to replace the Axle bearings in my 654 and I bought the KOYO B-1616 Bearing to do it with long with the seals to go with axle. Now the question is DO I Really have to pull the tranny then split it just to replace these bearings or is there and easier way You Ole Horse Junkies know of? Bud Andrews or one of you ole timers LOLOLOL
pfrederi 17,927 #2 Posted September 25, 2015 Seals you can do with out splitting ...bearing you have to split...besides if your needle bearing has failed you should really look around inside to make sure it didn't damage anything like this one did...
stevasaurus 22,893 #3 Posted September 25, 2015 Yep, no easy way out on the bearings...just good old fashioned, labor intensive fun. If you drain the trans and run about 2 qts of diesel in it for about 15 minutes and then drain, (before you take it apart) it will make for a much nicer, less messy experience.
