Xjchief 128 #1 Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) so I just picked up what I think is a 1940's midland walk behind in ruff but ok shape and here's my resto so far. I think the original motor is supposed to be a Briggs but unknown. Tires are shot but rims seem to be not bad. Instead of putting the original size of 5x12 I think the 6x12 look good or maybe some big fat 23x12 ags? Who knows. Also trying to think what motor to do I have a spare k181 or maybe the harbor freight motor? Edited September 23, 2015 by Xjchief
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #2 Posted September 23, 2015 The Midland tractors were Lime Green so that looks actually like a 1951-52 Montgomery Ward Hoe Trac/Chor Trac/Plow Trac made by Midland which were Red with Lime Green wheels. It would have either a Wisconsin ABN (Plow Trac), a Clinton 1100 (Chor Trac), or a Clinton 700 (Hoe Trac) engine originally. A Harbor Freight 3hp or 6.5 hp engine should just bolt on if you are just trying to get it to run.I would suggest going to Yahoo Groups and subscribe to the two Simplicity Walking Tractor groups.
