Butch 194 #1 Posted November 22, 2008 Do they make a cream or tan plastic hub cap for the front wheels which have an inside diameter of 1.5"? Anyone know the part number? The ones on Ebay are 2". Thanks Butch
TJ 183 #2 Posted November 22, 2008 Kelly told Me they can be ordered through a Toro/ Wheel Horse dealer. I am going to mine today. I will let you know how that goes. I could use a couple myself. :hide:
Butch 194 #3 Posted November 22, 2008 TJ I know you can get them through Toro but you need a part number. Did you get one?
TJ 183 #4 Posted November 22, 2008 I checked at Stanley Lawn and Garden and the P/N he gave me was 103565. I ordered a couple for Myself, but he coulded guarentee availability. I hope that is of some help. :hide:
Butch 194 #5 Posted November 22, 2008 TJ I just checked the Toro website and the M&D website and they both offered them for $2.50 each. They don't list the size or the color. Just the part. Thanks Butch
TJ 183 #6 Posted November 22, 2008 It was the cream color he wasn't sure about. I talked to Kelly today though and he said the guy in Eaton Rapids, Mi. that makes the steering wheel center pieces you see on ebay can make the hubs any color you want. I bought the center piece for my steering wheel, and he does real good work. I think his hubs come with a WH logo in the center. Don't know the price. Butch 194 #7 Posted November 22, 2008 Who's the guy in Eaton Rapids? Plus he can make the hub caps in any color ya want? Do you have a pic of the steering wheel center piece or an Ebay link to see one? Amazing what people can do. Butch
GlenPettit 1,717 #8 Posted November 23, 2008 This is the guy in Eaton Rapids; Glen Pettit I will be making the 1.5" Red Rubber Front tire Hubs, expect to have them by February (and in White, or in Black also . . . still finishing some technical problems), they will be exactly like the originals but with the horse-head logo slightly larger to keep
DMESS 24 #9 Posted November 23, 2008 Just as an FYI, in the past we've taken the black ones and painted them. They turn out quite nice and match your wheels perfectly. Might be overkill, but if your doing a resto it is a nice touch.
Butch 194 #10 Posted November 23, 2008 DMESS I considered doing that provided I could find them. Thanks.
saguaro 0 #11 Posted November 23, 2008 will they fit a lawn ranger ?
Butch 194 #12 Posted November 23, 2008 will they fit a lawn ranger ? These are on Ebay for your tractor. Based on those measurements, no. Sory I have to post a long link. I have yet to figure out how to shorten them. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pair-of-vintage-Wheel-...A1%7C240%3A1318 Butch
Brian1045 28 #13 Posted November 24, 2008 What exactly hold those caps on? If They are held on by a washer of some sort like the MTD style ones....couldn't you just put a 1 1/4" washer behind the main spindle/wheel bolt? The slip over the washer style? I've heard these had to be altered to make fit. I've came close to buying them, but wasn't sure. :hide:
Butch 194 #14 Posted November 24, 2008 My guess is friction holds them on. I want them to make the wheels look better and hide the spindles. If by chance they might be a little oversize then I'll wrap the wheel hub with electrical tape for a better fit.
GlenPettit 1,717 #15 Posted November 24, 2008 The hubs have a raised area inside the hub cup, near the inside back. On older & smaller tractors a washer is used, on newer larger (C-series) tractors, about '80 on, the axle has a rib near the outside that this raised area catches onto. Does take some force to put on and to take off, much easier to work with this rubber on a very warm day (
