elliot ness 1,916 #1 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) This was one great small GT, When I started to get rid of my collection I had to really think about getting rid of this one. I am down to 6 Wheel Horses, At one point I had over , well lets just say several dozen loader tractors. I will try to put pictures of them on here later. DennisThornton 4,769 #2 Posted September 14, 2015 Nice pictures, looks very capable but who made it? You used it and liked it but please tell us more? Someone most of us know, and I'm pretty sure respect, I certainly do, made a comment that if didn't actually say seemed to infer that if it wasn't a WH it was an off brand. Now, I don't necessarily want to argue that but you'll see my tagline includes more than just Wheel Horses and my opinion is that several companies made some pretty darned good machines! I'd also say that other than locking differentials and 4WD Wheel Horse did a pretty good job with the GTs and I could be happy with just WHs in that category, though somewhat limited! But I still like these pictures and would like to know more! I like it!
Eric C 109 #3 Posted September 15, 2015 Gilson made that GT for Montgomery Wards. A very stout machine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Eric C 109 #4 Posted September 15, 2015 By the way...Gilson was bought by Lawn Boy, who was bought by Toro in the 80's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DennisThornton 4,769 #5 Posted September 15, 2015 By the way...Gilson was bought by Lawn Boy, who was bought by Toro in the 80's. I knew of the Lawn Boy/Toro connection but not the Gilson/Lawn Boy purchase. I try to gather and note tidbits like this too! Here's some dates from Wikipedia: "In 1988, Lawn-Boy acquired Gilson Brothers Co., a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of outdoor power equipment and recreational equipment. In 1989, Lawn-Boy was acquired by The Toro Company,"Thanks for that tidbit!
