wheelHorse 312-8

Hello,
I am new to this forum and would really appreciate someone's help.
I have a 312-8 with a broken deck.
Someone is selling a 48" deck off of a D200 model but I am not sure if it will fit on my tractor and don't want to drive 120 miles in each direction to pick it up and find out it doesn't!

So that is my question, will a 48" deck off a D200 fit on my 312-8?

(He was not able to get a serial Number off the mower deck)

Thanks

No the d-series decks don't interchange.  But there a plenty of decks that will fit (I think any year from the early 80's to 2000's).  Someone here probably has one, just put an ad in the wanted section.

you will need a deck from a C-series or 300-400 series 42'' side discharge or rear discharge would work good a 48" deck will work too as long you keep your grass mowed regularly I think a 48" deck can be alot for a 12hp but my  dad used a 48" deck for awhile on a c-121 and it worked fine but he did say it was a little bit too much in the thick grass

The 48" deck from the D series will work.  It is, after all, only one of THOUSANDS that were stamped with very little difference.  You will only need to swap-over SOME of the Tach-o-Matic lift hardware from your C series deck and bolt it onto the D series....not much to it.  HOWEVER..... the D series deck uses the older Double D spindle-pulley-blade configuration and the replacement parts for that style are becoming scarce, if available at all.  To preclude issues with that, if you want, you can even move the spindles, pulleys, belts and all from your C series onto the D series deck with very little complication.
I'm not saying it is an immediate hook-up directly.  If you can turn a wrench, you can swap over the hardware and it'll work fine.

Hey all, I need to install a drive belt on my 75 D180 for my snowblower.  I've looked through a bunch of D-series owner's manuals, and none seem to mention replacement procedure.  The PTO pulley is fixed, save for engaging the PTO and there is minimal movement at the snowthrower pulley. There's no idler or tensioner as far as I can tell.  Do I have to remove the PTO pulley?  That seems to be a required service item.
Same question for my 80 D200 as well really.

      Using the recommended 4L490W belt.

      Thanks

      Hello gents!
I find myself with a question for the forum before I go down the path of ripping my deck apart in the middle of the season.

I have a 42 inch rear discharge 78350 that seems to have developed a crack at the center spindle (photo attached). At first I thought I had unbalanced blade issue bc the deck will vibrate something fearce. Long story short took it off got everything sharp and freshly greased. Started it up and it had the vibration again that reverberates through the deck. Now it's not as as bad as before but at the wrong angle or first starting it just vibrates loudly. So looked around and found the crack at the center spindle.

Debating if a simple weld would be sufficient for this crack or it would need more extensive repair? I don't weld myself but before I bothered the guy that farms the property thought I would ask here for thoughts if someone has had this issue since I was not seeing something in the forum.

Appreciate your guys help and thoughts.

Hi All, I’m a member of the RedSquare Facebook group, some of you may have seen My tractor there. I have a 1992 312-8 with a 37 inch deck. It came with a house my brother bought, and was given to me. It needed work but just minor things. I mow my lawn with it, and I just bought a plow to push snow/dirt so it’s a working restoration. It was relatively well taken care of by the previous owners so it really just needed a refresh. Anyway see you around the site!

Hey all, I'm doing my first fluid change on my new-to-me D200.  Refilling the transmission is proving to be quite the struggle.  I've attempted to fill the tranny through the dipstick with a variety of funnels, but the oil just spills over the top.  I may have managed to get a quart in.
      What am I missing?

Well it looks like I'm out of luck. I have been looking for blades for my Lawn Ranger and having zero luck. I have tried Wheel Horse part numbers 7908, 7909. Toro part numbers 8777, and 53322 and no one has anything like this. I was thinking about doing a cut down, but finding right hand and left hand blades seems to be the problem.
Anyone making blades, constructing blades, got a work around, etc? My blades are usable, but that is about it.
