Hi from Australia Diesel 512-D

You're welcome Dennis, I only snapped them with my camera phone but will eventually get some better quality ones when time permits.

On another note, does anyone else have a seatbelt on their seat? The male side of my buckle was unthreaded from the strap when I collected it. Having a hard time threading it back through... Surely there is a trick to it?

Bliksem, welcome  to red square, caught your post and had to check out your horse, sweet piece. I am guessing the seat looks the same as the 520. Might be original, thanks for the pictures.

That is a sweet looking :wh:, sort of a surprise to see a Subaru engine in a Horse, but being European I guess that is to be expected. Looking good.

Yes, interestingly it has the Europa sticker near the brake pedal, and most of the stickering around the motor is in French, despite it being officially sold here in Australia

wasn't really expecting to see a horse with a subaru engine, i'd have thought that they would put a Hatz or something in there

Hey Bliksem, if you're still around you might find this interesting. My father purchased a 312-8 diesel brand new many years ago which has been used much more heavily than yours and has worn the engine out. The 312-8 is almost identical to yours, I think the 512 was an update. The story behind ours was that 2 were brought into the country to trial the diesel, dad's one came to Victoria and went from dealer to dealer as none of them wanted to sell it due to not being setup to service diesels. I think it had been sitting for many years when my dad spotted it and the dealer reluctantly sold it to him on the condition that it never comes back for issues with the engine. The dealer told him that the other machine went to Sydney and was stolen from the dealer, I assumed that it was another 312-8, but I wonder whether yours is the other machine from Sydney. Your machine may have an interesting history

Tony in Australia 2

Nice looking tractor, good to see someone else down under with an appreciation for the wheel horse. I have a 416-8 twin cylinder Owen which only had 182hrs on the clock. I get some pictures up soon. I sold my 312-8 last month. I'm in central north Vic.

Question for the team, has anyone been able to increase the centre pully size to increase the speed of the cutting blades for a better cut?

Also, when I lift the cutting deck hight the deck hits the rear wheel. Is there a way to move the deck foreward 1/2 in -15mm?

      Hi all.
This topic will be dedicated to the upgrades and modifications I'm going to do to my 512-D with sweeper attachment.
The plan was to complete my mini IH 1468 before starting to work on the Wheel Horse but since the leaves are coming down quick I developed an 'itch' to get working on the Wheel Horse.

First things first, I had to get it running again. New ignition switch and new inline fuse, aswell as cutting out all unnecessary (for now) stuff solved the non-running issue.

Dashboard wiring seems to be OK

This is a mess. Two unnecessary relais, one unnecessary switch and a bunch of unnecessary wires everywhere.

Next up will be a new battery and probably some modifications to the pto-clutch and new oil all around. Also I'm on the lookout for new filter elements for the oilbath filter for the Robin DY41D engine.

      Done for now.

Major upgrades and or restoration will have to wait until after I finish the Murray to IH 1468 project.

Running again. Listen to that THUMP!
Almost forgot to mention.. probably needs some new rubber mounts

A while ago I picked up a Canadiana 5hp heavy duty tiller. It features forward and reverse control and you could buy add on implements for it.

My example unfortunately suffered a catastrofic engine faillure a.k.a. 'window' in the block. Hence it was cheap so I picked it up. The idea I had for it was to mount it on the rear of my 'Murray to IH 1568' build. However since I bought a Wheel Horse i've been thinking about mounting it on the front of that tractor.
      This is what i'm thinking..

Hello, new member here. My name is Mark and i'm from the Netherlands. The tractor virus is running in my blood since I was a little kid. I have a few hundred 1/32 and some 1/16th scale model tractors. And since a few weeks my second garden tractor.

Stumbled upon this goldmine of a forum after purchasing a Wheel horse 512-D with sweeper recently. Only after buying I found out that these tractors are not too common with the Robin diesel engine.
I've already scrolled through several threads and many beautiful pictures. Hoping to learn a lot and maybe add a little of my own knowledge here and there.

Hi all I’ve just acquired my first Wheel horse and it’s a 1986 512-D with the Robins Diesel engine from what I can see it was a one year only model into Europe. Any info anyone can give me would be great .
