squonk 41,638 #1 Posted August 25, 2015 Starting to get the winter sheet metal ready for Ezra. Got another hood and it's complete except someone decided to paint the headlight lens and hood ornament. Why do people do this?

daveoman1966 3,762 #3 Posted August 25, 2015 You MAY be able to save that lens.. New are about $40.Use a little bit of lacquer thinner to dissolve the paint. If you scratch the lens, slowly sand out the scratch with 1000 grit sand paper....then buff it with crocus cloth
JackC 617 #4 Posted August 25, 2015 That lens is worth saving by carefully removing the paint over spray. It looks to be the genuine older lens rather than the newer decal lens. Those are very hard to find without cracks.
slammer302 2,155 #5 Posted August 25, 2015 I feel your pain. in most cases it would of looked better if they never would of painted it if you don't have the time and resources to take one apart and buy new decals and do it right their doing more damage then good Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

callum12 256 #7 Posted August 25, 2015 think of it this way, maybe if they didn't re spray it the bonnet/hood would be all pitted and rusty. someone repainted my bonnet with the complete wrong colour and used a door mat as a brush! (at least that's what it looks like)good luck with the clean upcallum

squonk 41,638 #9 Posted August 25, 2015 The hood is rusty and pitted! lacquer thinmer got it off. The lens is not one of the raised horse head lenses, but it's a good lens
