The hood just sits on there for now but it does lock in place with the original lock. With the hood on it actually looks pretty mean! But I can get some pics tomorrow with it on for ya.

AMC RULES 37,125 #35 Posted January 13, 2016 No big deal...I remember all too well, what being a starving student is all about. Besides, whatever it takes to keep an awesome project moving forward...count me in.
jcp0420 109 #36 Posted January 13, 2016 I have some updates and pics as well. I started pulling the motor apart today and it looks like its been pulled apart pretty recently. Everything looks newish. The only problem I have is the valves won't seat from carbon build up. Also looks like someone tried to make the intake port bigger. Well there's a kid in my class that builds and pulls garden tractors so he talked me into doing a small port and polish. He's doing it free of charge and also giving me a new carb. He also talked me into doing a wheelie bar...lol. So those will be some of the updates starting next week. I'll try to get as many pics as possible.

I would rather not get hurt with this thing. If @rmaynard would like to share his experience that would be great!
953 nut 54,996 #41 Posted January 14, 2016 This is Bob's claim to fame, aside from awesome restorations. 7 minutes ago, jcp0420 said: If @rmaynard would like to share his experience that would be great!
jcp0420 109 #42 Posted January 14, 2016 @953 nut I've been there and done that about 5 years ago. It was a very scary situation and I havent felt comfortable loading anything but our zero turn on a trailer since.
953 nut 54,996 #43 Posted January 14, 2016 The safe way is to back up the ramp, might get a crink in your neck looking over your shoulder, but won't do a back flip.
jcp0420 109 #44 Posted January 14, 2016 Not very many pics for today. We get out of class early so I haven't done much today! Got the tie rods off and started cleaning up the head and what not. I do have a special picture at the end for y'all though. This is some redneck hack job custom tie rod. I give it an A for effort. And no class tomorroe so Monday I will resume with things! Pullstart 62,732 #45 Posted January 14, 2016 Wow even a good allen wrench too! That should be good for another hundred thousand miles, eh?

jcp0420 109 #47 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Do you guys have any ideas on battery location? It was right behind the motor when I pulled everything apart. Directly in front of the steering shaft. I was thinking behind the steering wheel shaft but then I think it'll be too hard to remove. I also marked holes in the fender pan to move the seat back. I'm 6'6 so I need the room lol. There's also a metal plug on the front of the frame. I'm going to post a picture...wondering what it's for exactly?
