mowerman1193 40 #1 Posted August 6, 2015 Probably a subject not many think about.. I need to change the oil in my compressor pump.. recommended oil is a non detergent oil 30W.. finding a non detergent oil is getting hard to do these days.. I wonder if just a standard motor oil would work okay.. what do you all run in your compressors?Kevin
slammer302 2,156 #2 Posted August 6, 2015 My dad uses HD30wt oil in his air compressor just the same as we use in are horses. I don't know if its right I've also watched him put put diesel oil in his brand Yamaha motorcycle he's kinda crazy when it comes to things like that Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

pacer 3,175 #4 Posted August 6, 2015 Most compressors call for 30w non detergent. Its available here at any auto store and even wally world keeps it.

squonk 42,526 #6 Posted August 6, 2015 Napa has it. If the compressor is out in the cold during the winter and you plan on using it search for synthetic compressor oil. That's what I've been using for the last 10+ yrs. Makes a huge difference. Amsoil sells it.
