nylyon-(Admin) 7,294 #1 Posted May 21, 2007 Just got back from a couple day camping trip in Gardiner, NY which is a small town in lower NY state. While travelling down Main St, I noticed an old hardware store with a hugh Wheel Horse sign on the side. I didn't see any evidence of tractors there, and was towing my travel trailer so I couldn't stop in. On Sunday they were closed so I couldn't stop in. Next trip up, I am going to pull in and ask about the sign, who knows maybe they have some old treasures hidden in the back.
perry 82 #2 Posted May 21, 2007 travel trailer or not, you may regret not stopping then. i pulled up to my local WH dealer 3 yrs ago and there was a sign in the window that read... AFTER 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS WE HAVE CLOSED ARE DOORS.... the lot and large field of used stuff was empty and i was sick to my stomach.

nylyon-(Admin) 7,294 #5 Posted August 8, 2007 We actually went up that way this past weekend to see the Ulster County Fair. Never did stop in that place, but the sign is still there. We'll probably head back up there in September I'll make it a point to stop in.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,294 #6 Posted September 16, 2007 Well, I stopped in this weekend. While riding my bike with the kids, a bolt on my seat broke, yeah it hurt, so I went to the hardware store to get a new bolt. They are still a Toro dealer, but they no longer have any Wheel Horses. Wasn't too talkative about it either. In any event, nothing came of my trip there.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #7 Posted September 17, 2007 That's the same vibe I got when I talked to Toro customer service. They don't want to say anything about Wheel Horse, just their zero turns and their MTD made junk!
