stevebo-(Moderator) 8,351 #1 Posted November 16, 2008 Guys, My C175 seams to be breaking up at 1/2 to full throttle. When checking the plugs, they are covered with black carbone. I clean then and after running it again the same thing. Lastly, it seams to be hard to start (have to prime the carb with fuel). What do you think the issues may be? I changed the fuel filter and fuel line. What is the black carbone bulit up from, is it from improper fuel mix, or burning oil? Point me in the right direction. Thanks- Steve
Jim_M 178 #2 Posted November 16, 2008 Steve, It sound like you're running too rich. If you're blowing black smoke it's rich. If you're blowing blue/white smoke it's burning oil. I would try tuning your carburetor. If you don't get anywhere it may be time to rebuild the carburetor. Jim
Teddy da Bear 11 #3 Posted November 16, 2008 You could also try to put some SeaFoam through your gas. Remember....seafoam will clean the crud off the inside of your engine....but it also throws that on your spark plugs. Use old spark plugs when running the foam... Then on your next tank....change plugs. wish you luck! Hope it doesn't need a valve job.
