Ed Kennell 40,185 #4 Posted July 20, 2015 Good eyes Brandon.....That rogue strawberry plant sprouted in the blackberries and now must think he is one of them as he bears a fruit one month after the strawberry season is over.

Ed Kennell 40,185 #13 Posted July 21, 2015 What a tease! Hey Jack, your close enough to stop in for a slice.....but you better hurry. I just noticed my first 3 tomatoes ripening up today. Should be nice in a day or two. I had a few small Rutgers that were ripe on the 4th. The bigger Brandywines started ripening last week.
WNYPCRepair 1,923 #14 Posted July 21, 2015 I did plant a patio tomato bush that already had green tomatoes on it, and they ripened, but they were tiny, and mostly diseased, so I didn't count them.

I do eat hot house tomatoes in winter, but rarely

WNYPCRepair 1,923 #21 Posted August 8, 2015 Well, I have almost surrendered to the mouse or vole that has decided my tomatoes are his. I thought it was birds or squirrels, so I covered the entire roof with plastic mesh. Then I discovered a mouse tunnel, and saw they were getting in under the wooden fence on one side, so I buried galvanized hardware cloth along the fence. A week goes by, and I finally get a few tomatoes. Then today, I find another tomato eaten, and a cuke nibbled, and a tunnel up in the middle of the bed. At this point, I have gotten a couple of salads worth of lettuce, and a dozen or so tomatoes, 3 cukes. I probably have $500 or more in the garden, plus a lot of work. That is some expensive salad
