1969 Raider 12 Seat

Recommended Posts

I need a seat for my '69 Raider 12.  I think I've figured out what the original was, but I have questions.  The original was apparently a frame to which a seat pad and separate backrest pad was bolted, is that correct?  If I had such a frame, what are the possibilities of getting brand new cushion parts?  If there are no pads available new, and I wanted to just use a generic seat, would you just bolt it to the fender pan, or would a seat base from another model, (which could give the functionality of tipping or sliding the seat, plus elevating it a little), be a good way to go?  If so, what model(s)?

Thanks!

LOL, thanks.  As usual I'm overthinking it.  :)

This seat from TSC is very comfy and adjustable. I always mount them on u shaped seat springs I get out of a scrap yardwheel_002.thumb.JPG.88cc38c7742a356d7ce1

Lots of "good leftovers" at our local yard. Picked up a nice Simplicity Landlord project for the grandsons.

Our local salvage yard brings in plenty of lawn / garden tractors.

Always bad seats but, the springs are fine. Wire wheel 'n paint'll do the trick.

Pretty much what you and squonk suggested, a pair of U shaped springs and aftermarket seat.  :)

If I ever run across an original seat in great condition, I might grab it, but until then I think the springs and aftermarket seat will work fine and look good too.
