Kelsey 88 #1 Posted July 6, 2015 I've been tinkering with a mini bike Tecumseh H25. The carb has been rebuilt, gas tank cleaned, new fuel line along with the Briggs red fuel filter. These partsare staged and ready to go. The block has been cleaned and the internals havebeen removed because of the oil seals and side cover gasket were leaking. I'll clean thevalves and replace the other gaskets as I go along. This Tecumseh is ~ 40 years old.The oil was in terrible condition and I found a few small piece of metal. The cylinderisn't scored but the bottom of the piston does have a small piece missing so this iswhere the metal came from. The connecting rod felt a little loose on the crank but itsnot real sloppy. The crank is scored ever so slightly. I'm thinking of just replacing thepiston, rings and connecting rod.Without putting too much money in it, what advice do you have? sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted July 6, 2015 You cant make a decision on what parts to replace until you get some good measurements on the parts you have. If you cant measure the parts yourself, take them to a machineshop and get them to measure them for you.
Fordiesel69 258 #3 Posted July 10, 2015 Techkys seem to suffer from rod - to - crank failures. If the rod is loose, the crank is in need of a regrind.
