My newest addition. A 416-H with bagger

Recommended Posts

This was my Fathers day present to myself. It has unknown hours on it but runs well and all idlers are nice and tight so I think hours may be low. Only thing to make me think otherwise is the steering wheel is polished smooth.

I have not mounted the 48" deck yet because I had to order a belt for the bagger. Not shown in the pics is the plastic tube from the bagger blower to the bagger itself.

Deck has some weld repair but seems real solid and all moving parts spin properly.

That looks like a decent find! The "Father's Day Present-Giver" certainly knew what you wanted. :ychain:

That is my Chinese tractor. Runs better than anything else I own. Has around 300 hours on it now and has only had routine oil changes.

Rated at 25 HP but would drag all of my 520's at once easily. Different HP rating I guess.

Cleat, The 416-H is a nice machine and sounds almost as good as the 520H.  I like multiple machines so I can spread the hours and each can have different attachments.  That machine could be the dedicated bagger machine when you need it.  Great machine for use in the fall or spring for leaf pick up.

All belts installed, deck and bagger hooked up. Mowed back yard.

Works well, not perfect, it leaves a little bit of grass but not bad.

looking good Cleat!! your really starting to stack them :wh: up over there :handgestures-thumbupright:.

I have 3 good running machines and ive found myself rotating them for mowing duty this summer. My brother helped me jockey some decks and blades around yesterday and asked what are we were playing musical decks or something:confusion-scratchheadyellow: :laughing-rofl:

Make sure you run the right and extremely sharp blades. Some guys do say that fthe flater "recycler" blades worked better. Keep the chutes & blower wheel clean. From the pics its looks like you have the outboard belt in order. My neighbor had a bagger like that and it really picked up stuff nice. I mean every blade of grass. Your gonna love that for pickin up fall leaves...no more raking by hand!

I, for this test, just used the blades that came on it as is.

everything is clean. The screen on the bagger looks to be only the bottom half but no grass was blowing out there.

Belt on the fan drive is a 4L740.

This entire deck right up to the mule drive has absolutely no guards or covers so I will be on the lookout for those except the mule drive, I have that one.

Yep get those guards. Especially on the blower. I have used that same set up for years on leaf pick up and I can tell you the occasional stick you might get into in the leaves will get up into those belts. I have had that happen even with the guard on. If you don't keep debris out of there your asking for trouble. I have a dedicated 42 in deck that I use just for leaf pick up. I switched to gator blades and it really made a difference in the leaf pick up. After the first time I went to dump the bags they were way considerably heavier. I don't like the gator for grass cutting, but they sure do mulch the leaves up.almost double the amount that goes into the bag.

I'm a new owner of a Wheel Horse 416-H (1991). Can anyone suggest where I might find a bagger for this tractor?

Thanks!

Here is the belt drive.

What you can't see is the belt going to the double pulley on the right hand deck spindle.

Belt for the bagger goes on the upper pulley.
