Jgoodsell 19 #1 Posted June 21, 2015 I have a 10 automatic with a freshly rebuilt motor. It was bored .10 over, if that affects its ability to handle a 36" single stage snow blower. The snow blower is a wheel horse 36" single stage that's been sitting for about 10 years on a pallet. I believe that its from late 70's early 80's. Once I finally clean it, I will find the tag on it and post that. I was just looking to see if anyone had success with something like this.
wallfish 17,487 #2 Posted June 21, 2015 A 10hp can handle a blower. I used one on a C-101 for a little while and it did OK but when I put it back on the 16hp tractor, it made a noticeable difference. The larger Hp threw it farther and went through it quicker but the 10hp did the job too.
stevasaurus 23,063 #3 Posted June 21, 2015 Welcome to Red Square!! I certainly hope a 10 hsp will handle it. I have mine on an 8 hsp Auto and it works great.
Racinbob 11,725 #4 Posted June 22, 2015 Used an 8hp for years smack in the middle of the Lake Michigan lake effect snow belt. Back in the 70's (probably other years as well) Wheel Horse sent a thingy out to the dealers stating that the side plates weren't to be installed on a blower that was going on a 8hp. That was me at the time. The 42" blower was 42" only with the side plates installed, about 36" without. That was fine with me because I didn't care for the plates anyways. Even after upping to 16hp I didn't install them. Did the added power make a difference? Sure, I could use the next higher gear a little more often. Unless you're bogging the motor down 3600 rpm is 3600 rpm and the blower doesn't know what motor is spinning it.
