CRCermak 0 #1 Posted May 24, 2015 I have an SK 486 I am going to restore. What are the best front tires to get for it. I am getting Carlisle 23x10.5 x 12 Tru Power Tires for the rear.
bmsgaffer 2,046 #2 Posted May 25, 2015 Best is relative to wait you use it for.If you need high traction turns without regard to your grass, some go with tri ribs.If you want good turning in snow and want to not put ruts in your yard some go with vredestein v61. (These are what I am going with)If its mostly for summer use or you just like turf tires then many people have luck with the carslisle turf masters (high grip turfs) (my second choice)Spend some time doing some searching around here and you will turn up a plethora of topics on it. CRCermak 0 #3 Posted May 25, 2015 Thanks for the reply and I will look into your suggestions. It currently has turf tires on it and my goal is to make it look more like a tractor and have more traction. I don't use It much in winter but may do so once I get a blade for it. I will have to place some before and after photos when I get the new tires on.
rmaynard 15,726 #4 Posted May 25, 2015 If you want to be a purist, and have it look the way Wheel Horse intended it to look, the front tires were Carlisle Turf Saver 16 x 6.50 x 8, and the rear tires were Carlisle Turf Saver 22 x 7.50 x 12. Personally, I would keep everything original with the exception of the rears. I would increase the size to 23 x 8.50 x 12.
clip 185 #5 Posted May 26, 2015 Another vote for the V61s. I put tru-powers and V61s on and have enjoyed them thoroughly.
