front spindle to 4 lug hub modification

Hi all,
as part of project Agri-800 I have got 4x8" 4"PCD rims with tri rib tyres and some nice heavy duty 1" cast hubs. I am aware that there was a really good post on this type of modification but I can't find it anywhere, can anyone give me a link to the post? 
I am also wondering how for I should centre drill down the hub axles? i think I will go about 3" down and weld around the top. will I need any extra bracing since the wheel will be further away from the axle by about 4"?
