I was wondering if anyone knew of a product to put on bare metal that would inhibit rust but not have an effect on paint. I've been slowly stripping sheet metal on my 857 project but do to my work schedule I've been limited to small periods of time here and there. I bought some expensive paint for thus project last year and I'd like to spray it all at once and not piece by piece. My problem is that im noticing that some of the pieces I've already prepped are starting to develop a little surface rust. If anybody knows of anything to treat the already prepped parts to avoid rust I'd appreciate it. It will prevent me from having to do things multiple times. Thanks and hope everyone enjoys their memorial day weekend

This stuff works incredibly well to prevent flash rusting of bare metal...
if you give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Can you paint right over it or do you have remove it first. Do you know if Napa or someone like that carries an equivalent

You probably could paint right over it...
but, I'd hit it with a scotch brite first, and then wipe it down with a cleaner/degreaser right before painting.

That is an acid wash same as Metal Prep. Good stuff. Wipe it on. Use a metal cleaner like  Napa Final Wash. Prime and paint.
