Won't stay in neutral

I've got a 73 Auto-18 that will not stay in neutral,. I tried raising the rear wheels and adjusting the cam but ran out of adjustment before the wheels would stop turning! What is my next step? Does someone sell the cam plate or am I going to have to make one, because I'm assuming the cam is worn out past the adjusting stage. It's so bad now that when I engage the parking brake it still creeps! It's really not safe to get off the tractor while it's running.

Hi Eddie,

Take it all apart and look at all the linkage from the lever to the cam plate.

The later year D's had a break band on the hydraulic motor similar to a lot of the other models.  When you say the "parking brake" you must be talking about the Parking Pawl unless the tranaxle was replaced with one that doesnt have the parking break and/or you have a newer hydraulic motor.  The early years had a Pawl and it either works to "park" the tractor or it's broken.  If the break was left engaged and the operator engaged the motion control the tractor had enough power to break the pawl.

Good luck getting it adjusted.
