Hendricksn 7 #1 Posted May 2, 2015 Hey guys I have a 1990 520-H and the hydro lift won't lift the tiller. It drives okay as far as I know but it won't lift the tiller on the back. I topped off the fluid with no results. Any help would be great

C-101plowerpower 1,605 #5 Posted May 3, 2015 Do you have a lift assist spring?
Hendricksn 7 #6 Posted May 4, 2015 No. It shouldn't need it. My other 520 lifted it just fine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,107 #7 Posted May 4, 2015 Here is a manual for the lift valve. Perhaps it has an internal leak. Garry
cleat 6,408 #8 Posted May 4, 2015 Or the relief valve is set too low. Cleat
Hendricksn 7 #9 Posted May 4, 2015 How do I set the relief valve? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bmsgaffer 2,045 #10 Posted May 4, 2015 You will need to hook up a hydraulic pressure gauge to the system and then there is an acorn on top of the lift valve that will come off to allow you to access the adjustment. The eaton charge pump is rated to 800psi, but wheel horse has set a 700psi maximum rating for it to build in a safety margin and make the pump last longer... (I myself have not performed the procedure, but I have read up on it)
312Hydro 474 #11 Posted May 4, 2015 Has it picked it up before with no problem? Maybe check for binding of the cable and possibly the cable attachment points?
Hendricksn 7 #12 Posted May 4, 2015 It's never been on this particular 520. But I had it on a '88 520-H and it worked fine. How do I test the pressure? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hendricksn 7 #13 Posted May 4, 2015 I checked in the manual and it doesn't show how to adjust or check the pressure any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
